Rep. Markey is currently Chairman of the Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet within the House Energy and Commerce committee. As chairman, Rep. Markey has actively promoted the spread of affordable, high-speed broadband service and explored the future of new media technologies. He has also undertaken initiatives to create more choice and innovation in the wireless marketplace, to protect children from harmful junk food advertisements on children’s television shows, and to encourage minority ownership, diversity and localism in mass media policy.
