How to Vote

It is our right and responsibility to vote in free and public elections. Choosing your elected officials is critically important, for they have the power to change as well as protect the laws that affect you and your family. Make your voice count. Take just a few moments and register to vote today!

General Information
In California you must register no later than 15 days prior to each local and statewide Election Day.

REMINDER: You must be registered by October 20, 2008 to be eligible to vote in the November 8th general election of this year!

Click here to print and fill out a Paper Voter Registration Form. This form is also available in Spanish. You must mail it directly to your county registrar of voters. 

If you are already registered, and would like to vote by mail, click here to print and fill out an official Alameda County Vote By Mail Application, which must be signed and mailed  to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, to be recieved at least 7 days prior to any election. Become a Poll Worker
Registered voters, Alameda County employees, and high school students 16 years of age or older are eligible to participate in the nonpartisan poll worker program! Please visit the Alameda County Poll Workers Page for more information on eligibility, to apply online, or to download a mail-in application.

Compensation for poll workers is determined by the State or local election office. Some participants in a College Poll Worker Program receive extra credit in course work in lieu of compensation.

Please take advantage of this rewarding opportunity to seve your community by playing an integral, hands-on role in administering, safegaurding, and promoting the election process!
