Committee Assignments


Congressman Kline currently serves on the following committees in the House of Representatives.

Education and Labor: The Education and Labor Committee has a dual mission: empowering parents and teachers to provide our students with the best education possible, and giving American workers access to the tools and protections they need to meet the challenges and opportunities of the New Economy.
Education and Labor Subcommittees:
  • Health, Employment, Labor and Pensions (Ranking member):  Pension, health, and other employee benefits, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA); all matters dealing with rela­tionships between employers and employees generally including, the National Labor Relations Act and Bureau of Labor Statistics; all matters related to equal employment opportunity and civil rights in employment.
  • Workforce Protections: Workers’ health and safety including, occupational safety and health, mine health and safety, youth camp safety, and migrant and agricultural labor health and safety; wages and hours of labor including, Davis-Bacon Act, Walsh-Healey Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, including child labor; workers’ compensation generally, Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, Federal Employees’ Compensation Act, Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, Service Contract Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, Employee Polygraph Protection Act of 1988; and, oversight of compulsory union dues within the jurisdiction of another subcommittee. 
Armed Services:  The primary responsibility of the Armed Service Committee is the protection of the American people. The current fight against terrorism serves as a reminder that we continue to have enemies and it is imperative that we work with the President to ensure our men and women in the military have every resource they need to defend our freedom.  
Armed Services Subcommittees: 
  • Military Personnel: Responsible for military personnel policy, reserve component integration and employment issues, military health care, military education and POW/MIA issues. In addition, the subcommittee will be responsible for Morale, Welfare and Recreation issues and programs.
  • Terrorism, Unconventional Threats, and Capabilities: Responsible for DOD counter proliferation and counter terrorism programs and initiatives. In addition, the subcommittee will be responsible for Special Operations Forces, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, information technology policy and programs, force protection policy and oversight, and related intelligence support.
