MILLER URGES SUPPORT FOR OPERATION TREATS FOR TROOPS

Chumuckla, Fl (February 27, 2004) - Congressman Jeff Miller (R-Fl-01) and Congressman Jo Bonner (R-AL-01) today urged their constituents to reach out and show support for our military through the second annual Treats for Troops program. This program will allow patriots in the Florida Panhandle and Southern Alabama to purchase Girl Scout Cookies to be sent to deployed military personnel from our local area in the Middle East, Iraq, and Afghanistan.
"I am extremely proud to participate with my friend Jeff Miller and the Girl Scouts of America in this very worthwhile program," Bonner said. "Having just returned from a recent trip to visit our men and women stationed in the Central Command Theater of Operations, I know how very important it is for us here at home to show our support for the military. They are performing a difficult and dangerous task, and many have been away from their friends and families for quite some time. The Treats for Troops program is a great way to show our armed forces that we care and to send them a small slice of life from back home."
"This is a great opportunity to send a little taste of home to the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who are in theater," Miller said. "Folks will have an opportunity to purchase a box of Girl Scout Cookies at Cordova Mall and UPS will ship them to our service men and women overseas."
Clear Channel Communications will be broadcasting live from both Malls throughout the weekend. Congressmen Miller and Bonner as well as several local celebrities are expected to participate.
