CONGRESSMAN MILLER: PELOSI A DANGER TO NATIONAL SECURITY

Chumuckla, Fl (October 24, 2006) - Monday, Congressman Miller (R-FL-01) fired back at assertions made by Nancy Pelosi on Sunday night’s 60 Minutes. On the program, Nancy Pelosi stated that the War on Terror was only in Afghanistan and that the only reason the terrorist insurgents were in Iraq was because we were there.
“In her interview, Nancy Pelosi showed exactly why she is not ready to lead the House,” Miller said. “To suggest that terror only exists in Afghanistan is ludicrous. She is the reason that Democrats are such a danger to our National Security. Her remarks on Sunday night’s 60 Minutes prove that she and the House Democrats she leads are completely clueless about our situation in Iraq. As someone who has spent time on the Intelligence Committee, she should know better than to make such ridiculous and unfounded statements.”
In the instance that the Republican’s lost control of the House, Nancy Pelosi would likely become the next Speaker of the House. Her voting record shows that she is against the Terrorist Surveillance Program and the use of force in Iraq. She has supported cuts in Intelligence funding, and an immediate withdrawal from Iraq.
“Her stances on National Security and the Global War on Terror are, in themselves, terrifying,” Miller added. “Her comments are an insult to the men and women who have died for democracy as well as those who continue to serve and sacrifice. Mrs. Pelosi and the Democrats are out of touch with reality, out of touch with foreign policy, and out of touch with the general safety of the American people.”

STAHL: Do you not think that the war in Iraq now, today, is the war on terror?
PELOSI: No. The war on terror is the war in Afghanistan.
STAHL: But you don't think that the terrorists have moved into Iraq now?
PELOSI: They have. The Jihadists are in Iraq. But that doesn't mean we stay there. That means... They'll stay there as long as we're there. They're there because we're there.
