GROUNDBREAKING FOR NEW VETERANS’ CLINIC AT EGLIN ON MONDAY
Clinic will help deliver promise of better care for Vets

Chumuckla, Fl (October 13, 2006) - Congressman Jeff Miller (R-Fl-01) will speak Monday at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Veterans’ Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at Eglin Air Force Base.

“This new clinic is an extraordinary victory for our veterans in Northwest Florida,” Miller said. “Okaloosa County is home to one of the largest concentrations of veterans in Florida and the nation. It doesn’t make sense for them to drive all the way Pensacola for primary health care.”

“We have an obligation to the men and women who have served and defended our country. By breaking ground Monday on this state-of-the-art facility, we will ensure Northwest Florida’s deserving veterans have convenient access to proper medical care,” added Miller.

The new veterans’ clinic at Eglin was first proposed by Congressman Miller in June of 2002, following the visit of then-Secretary of Veterans’ Affairs Anthony Principi to Northwest Florida.

Congressman Miller continues working with the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to expand co-sharing facilities throughout the country. The clinic at Eglin Air Force Base, along with the new Joint Ambulatory Care Center (Super Clinic) in Pensacola, are at the cutting edge of innovations in veterans’ care and exemplify a model for the nation.
