The 27th Congressional District of New York, stretching along Lake Erie, consists of the eastern and southern two-thirds of Buffalo, plus most of the Erie County suburbs east and south of the city. The 27th also includes the entirety of Chautauqua County, reaching all the way south to the Pennsylvania border. Long known for its beauty, the landscape features natural and man-made wonders from the Erie Canal to freshwater lakes to scenic local wineries and nature trails.
Western New York is also a great place to do business. With the waterfront as the definitive locus for Buffalo’s renaissance, Brian has made the economic development of the region his number one focus in Congress. In recent years, the district has seen an increase in finance, insurance and real estate driven jobs, with manufacturing and agriculture remaining important in the area. In addition, University-based research at the University at Buffalo and the development of the New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (COE) is transforming the area into a bioinformatics center, promoting the use of computer technology to study genomes, proteins and biomolecules.
