NEW CONGRESSIONAL OFFICE OPENS IN COLUMBUS

U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop has officially opened a new Second Congressional District Office in Columbus to provide services for Georgians from throughout the area.

The Congressman Monday (4/21) hosted an open house and ribbon cutting to mark the opening of the office, which is located at Suite 201, Heritage Towers, 18 Ninth Street. More than 500 visitors from Columbus and many surrounding communities attended the event. The telephone number is (706) 320-9477.

The Second District covers all or parts of 27 southwest Georgia counties, including an area of Columbus-Muscogee County, which was added to the district in the new reapportionment plan that went into effect this year with the start of the 108th Congress.

This is the fourth district office opened by Representative Bishop to provide services to constituents who need help with the federal government, including issues relating to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, veterans' services, and military service. The three other Second District offices are located in Albany, Dawson and Valdosta.

"These offices bring the wide range services we provide closer to home for the people and communities we serve," the Congressman said. "Everyone from throughout the Second District is invited to visit our offices, get to know our staff, and to receive assistance whenever they may need it."
