Southern Nevada is one of the fastest growing communities in the entire
country. That growth has been a terrific boom for our community, but it
has also brought with it many negative consequences. From air pollution,
to traffic congestion, to brownfields, and urban renewal, the problems
are many, and the challenge is daunting. I am working with other Members
of Congress across the country, who also represent fast growth
communities, to address the problems associated with rapid growth.
Whether it's fighting for more federal funding to address the air
quality problems in southern Nevada, improving and expanding public
transportation, easing traffic congestion, reducing the tax burden on
Nevada families, or bringing more jobs into the Silver State, I have
advocated responsible growth, and making improvements to the quality of
life of our residents first.
