Washington, Nov 5 -

U.S. Representative John Carter (TX-31) made the following statement today after winning re-election to the United States House of Representatives, and announcing his intent to run for House Republican Conference Secretary.

“I am first and foremost grateful to God, my family and neighbors for allowing me the opportunity to serve you for another two years in Congress.  We here in Central Texas know what it means to work hard and provide for our families, and as your Congressman, I will continue to fight for these values that make our state the strongest in the nation.

“Just as I have done in the past, I will take these core principles with me to Washington and most importantly to the Republican leadership.  I will return to Washington in the next few days and campaign for a spot amongst our Republican leaders because I believe we must fight harder for our timeless Texas values.

“While the outcome of last night’s election was not as I hoped, we must remember that America is still a center right country.  In Texas, we still know what it means to overcome the odds with hard work and a determined spirit.  Our conservative values, along with our tried-and-true Texas spirit make our region the best in the nation.  I know how important these values are to you, and I will work even harder to uphold them as I pursue a position within the Republican leadership.”
