Notice: Meeting on Low-power Television and Translator
Upgrade Program: NTIA will
hold
public meetings regarding the implementation of the Low-power
Television Upgrade Program, established by Section 3009
of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. The meetings will
be held in Washington D.C. on October 24, 2008, at 10:00
a.m. Eastern Time, and in Las Vegas, Nevada on October

Grants:
The Transportation Department's National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration and the NTIA today
announced a proposal to make available more than
$40 million in grants to help states and territories
improve their 9-1-1 call centers. The grants were
authorized by the ENHANCE 9-1-1 Act. Press

Coupons By Year-End:
NTIA announced today that “over-the-air” television
viewers who want to participate in the TV Converter Box
Coupon Program should apply for coupons before the end
of the year to minimize the chances of losing TV reception
when full-power broadcasters end analog broadcasts on

Release: Nursing Homes Residents and P.O. Box
Households Will Be Eligible to Receive DTV Coupons:
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez
announced today that residents of licensed nursing
homes, intermediate care facilities, assisted living
facilities and households that use a post office
box for mail delivery will be eligible to request
coupons from the TV Converter Box Coupon Program.
The rule change takes effect 30 days after publication
in the Federal Register.
