ABC 7 Chicago: Government Reverses Flooding Funding Decision

Friday, March 7, 2008

WATSEKA, Ill. (WLS) -- The federal government has changed its mind, and flood victims in Iroquois and Livingston counties will be eligible for federal disaster relief.
Heavy rain and melting snow caused flooding in mid-January. The towns of Watseka and Pontiac were especially hard hit.

Nearly 500 homes were damaged, and hundreds of people were forced to leave their homes.

The initial request for federal aid was denied. But Governor Blagojevich and senators Durbin and Obama all asked the Bush administration to reconsider the request.
