WASHINGTON,
D.C. – U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) announced that she has
been appointed to the Government Reform Subcommittee on Criminal Justice,
Drug Policy and Human Resources.
The
Subcommittee examines issues relating to the Immigration and Naturalization
Service, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department
of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education and the Department
of Justice.
"Serving
on this important subcommittee will give me the opportunity to examine
more closely issues that are of great importance to my constituents, including
immigration, gun control, health care and public housing. I look
forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle on these
critical issues," Schakowsky said.
In
addition to her new assignment, Schakowsky serves on the Government Reform
Subcommittee on National Security, Veterans Affairs and International Relations.
As a member of the House Banking and Financial Services Committee, she
serves on the Housing and Community Opportunity and the Domestic and International
Monetary Policy subcommittees.
