WASHINGTON,
D.C. – U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) hailed the passage of
House Concurrent Resolution 188 commending Turkey and Greece. The
resolution commends those nations for their swift response and mutual cooperation
following the devastating earthquakes in both countries.
"At
a time of great distress, Turkey and Greece reminded the world that lending
a helping hand to those in need is what the human spirit is all about.
The House of Representatives has gone on record to commend these two nations
for their assistance in providing each other with humanitarian aid and
rescue relief," Schakowsky said.
"The
people of Turkey and Greece have suffered immensely in the past few months.
I will work with my colleagues to help those two U.S. allies rebuild after
the earthquakes," added Schakowsky.
Representative
Mike Bilirakis (R-FL) is the chief sponsor of the Resolution. In
addition to Schakowsky, the Resolution is cosponsored by Representatives
Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) and Dan Burton (R-IN).
