In the Southeast corner of the State of Tennessee is one of the country's most beautiful areas--Polk County, home of the 1996 Olympic Whitewater Venue. Located in the Cherokee National Forest, the Whitewater Center receives over 100,000 visitors each year. Visitors to the area can enjoy rafting, tubing or kayaking down the Ocoee River. They can also enjoy the historic sites of Copperhill and Ducktown. Bicycling trips, nature hikes, and fly-fishing are some of the activities which can last a day or a week. For extra fun, try one of the area's quaint bed and breakfast inns for accommodations. Or if that isn't quite your idea of a vacation, relax in the solitude of your own tent listening to the sounds of the Ocoee River.
