Schakowsky cites e-mails
In the House, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) said she draws strength from
her constituents as she questions whether the nation is prepared for war
with Iraq. Schakowsky said she has received about 5,000 e-mails and letters
from voters in her district supporting her position. Only 14 people have
written to say she is wrong.
She acknowledged that Bush is likely to get the votes he needs, but
said: "I have been a lifelong organizer and I have seen the power when
citizens exert their rights and their privilege to communicate their will."
