WASHINGTON,
D.C. – U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) today was honored by NETWORK,
a national Catholic social justice lobby. NETWORK National Coordinator
Kathy Thornton presented Schakowsky with a Certificate of Honor for achieving
a 100% voting record on NETWORK’s Congressional scorecard. Schakowsky
is only one of a handful of House members to receive a perfect score.
“I
am very proud to stand together with members of NETWORK as we continue
our mission to ensure social and economic justice for all people.
I will continue to work on Capitol Hill to bring health care to all families
and affordable housing to low income people and to reform our nation’s
trade. My colleagues and I can reach those goals with the help and
support of organizations like NETWORK,” Schakowsky said.
NETWORK
rated members of Congress during the first session of the 106th Congress
on how they voted on numerous bills. Some of the legislation rated
by NETWORK included bills that dealt with the Community Reinvestment Act,
the future of Social Security and Medicare, HMO patient protections and
campaign finance laws. |
