(Washington, D.C.) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) Tuesday
night issued the following statement regarding the House of Representatives
passage of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Report of 2004.
Ross voted in favor of the Report's passage.
"I am relieved today that the House and Senate conferees came to an
agreement on the specifications of the 911 Reform Bill, and that the House
of Representatives passed the legislation. This bill lays out the
critical recommendations made by the nonpartisan 911 Commission - recommendations
that will provide much greater protections to our homeland and to our citizens.
"This new bill will improve our nation's intelligence infrastructure
by centralizing the operations of the fifteen government agencies that
make up the intelligence community. Under the new Director of National
Intelligence, our government's ability to identify and respond to potential
terrorist attacks will become more efficient, which in turn will make our
communities safer and stronger.” |
