(Prescott, AR) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) hosted a reception
in Mt. Ida Monday in honor of Dortha Scott, whose sketch was selected to
be used by the U.S. Mint for the design of the new Arkansas State Quarter.
The event took place at the Mt. Ida Courthouse.
“Today I congratulate and thank Ms. Scott for her beautiful art work
and contribution to history,” said Ross. “Out of more than 9,300 entries,
Ms. Scott’s outstanding sketch has been selected by the U.S. Mint to be
used as the design for the new Arkansas Quarter. From the soaring
mallard to the depiction of the rice plant, Ms. Scott’s sketch incorporates
elements that accurately reflect why Arkansas is called the ‘Natural State.’”
