(Washington, D.C.) U.S. Rep. Mike Ross (AR-04) Thursday announced that
Columbia Sewing Company, headquartered in Magnolia, Arkansas, has been
awarded a $2.9 million military contract to produce 120,000 Iraqi National
Guard Uniforms by the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia. Columbia
Sewing Company has two manufacturing plants located in Magnolia and Hope.
Over the course of the last decade, Columbia Sewing Company has manufactured
uniforms and other necessary clothing to supply warfighters in Iraq, Afghanistan,

at the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia to discuss potential contracts
in Ross’s Washington, D.C. office.
“I was pleased to work with Columbia Sewing and assist them in their

of this longstanding company in the Magnolia and Hope business communities,”
said Ross. “This is tremendous news for Columbia Sewing and the hard
working families of Magnolia, Hope, and the surrounding areas. This

a testament to the quality of the workforce and products they manufacture.”
“Furthermore, I appreciate Toby Stephens, Executive Director of the
Magnolia Economic Development Corporation, for his assistance in providing
the necessary resources and information needed by the Defense Supply Center
in Philadelphia throughout the contract bidding process,” Ross continued.
“This contract will put 143 people back to work, full time, and could create
as many as 40 additional jobs in the Magnolia and Hope communities.” |
