Ross Statement Regarding Send-Off for 39th Infantry Brigade

(Washington, D.C.) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) Sunday issued the following statement in response to the 39th Infantry Brigade Send-Off Ceremony that took place Sunday at Alltel Arena in Little Rock. Ross’s district director, Chris Masingill, read the statement on behalf of the Congressman.

“Thank you for your brave, unselfish dedication to our country. To make such a sacrifice for your country is an incomparable feat. You have been called to leave your families, and a life of comfort, to bear the burden of carrying out this important fight for security and freedom.

“Times have changed since previous wars, and you can be assured your Nation and your government stands united behind you. I can safely say the 108th Congress is committed to making sure the military has the resources it needs to take care of you and your families.

“To all of the family members here today whose husband, wife, son, daughter, or close relative is going to Iraq - you, and our soldiers, will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days and months ahead. The freedoms these young men and women help to provide foster faith in the American spirit, and help to show the enemies of liberty that America is united.

“Defending our freedom is what this nation was built on, and the common thread that binds us all is our honor and respect for you, and our commitment to ensuring that return home soon, safely. I am eternally grateful for your selfless service in defending freedom and keeping America safe.

“God Bless all of you.”
