(Washington, D.C.) Fourth District
Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) announced on Thursday that a number of projects
in the Fourth District have been included in the Fiscal Year 2004 Agriculture
spending bill, which the House of Representatives is expected to pass tonight.
“Arkansas’s natural resources are our bread and butter,” Ross said. “Carefully maintaining and cultivating our resources will help to insure that our agriculture industry remains a productive and healthy part of our economy. We have worked hard to secure funding for these projects, and will continue working throughout the appropriations process to see that our district’s agriculture needs are met.” The following projects have been included in the Appropriations Bill: $300K – Walnut Bayou - The irrigation district is being formed to deliver surface water from The Red River to the project area. The following projects have been named as priorities (with no set spending amount): Bayou Meto - To complete Bayou Meto project in order to prevent groundwater
depletion, flooding and environmental degradation.
