(Washington, D.C.) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) issued the
following statement Saturday commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the
Battle of Normandy:
“Sixty years ago Sunday, American forces embarked on one of the greatest
battles of freedom our world has ever witnessed. In one of the most brilliantly
crafted military missions ever implemented by a military regime, the Normandy
invasion paved the way to the eventual freedom of millions.
“On this anniversary, I ask that we remember the courageous actions
of these brave men and women, and honor the sacrifices they made to protect
our great nation. These American heroes left their families and the safe
world they knew to defend our freedoms here at home, and secure the freedoms
for many more.
“On this day I also ask that we keep in our hearts and prayers the thousands
of troops and their families who are serving us abroad. I am grateful for
all they do, and I pray for their safe return.” |
