Ross Honors Arkansas Veterans During WW2 Memorial Dedication Ceremony in Washington

(Washington, D.C.) In light of the nation’s dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington this weekend, Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross hosted a breakfast Saturday honoring Arkansas veterans and their families who traveled to Washington for the ceremony, and will join veterans later in the afternoon at the Memorial’s dedication, taking place on the Mall near the Washington Monument.

“A long-time coming, the World War II Memorial pays tribute to the 16 million Americans who bravely served in the Armed Forces during World War II, including the more than 400,000 who died, and the millions who supported this effort from home,” said Ross. “Hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families are converging in our nation's capitol this weekend to officially commemorate this Memorial. I am so grateful so many Arkansas veterans and their families are able to be here in Washington for this important moment in history. I know how much it means for them -- and for our nation -- to be here.”

Ross hosted the breakfast at the Alexandria Hilton Mark Center, where many of the veterans from Arkansas are staying.

“The national World War II Memorial will inspire future generations of Americans, and will forever stand as an important symbol of national unity,” said Ross.  “Along with the Vietnam and Korean Veterans Memorial, this Memorial will serve as a timeless reminder of our nation's solemn vow to preserve peace for our children, and how strong our nation can be when we are united in a common, and just, cause.”
