(Prescott, AR) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross announced Monday that
Mena-area residents will finally regain much-needed access to local Social
Security Administration services. Within the next few weeks, an official
with the Polk County Social Security Administration office will be on hand
once a month in Mena to address any problems or issues area residents
may have concerning their Social Security.
“For too long, Mena residents have been forced to drive to Hot Springs
to receive critical assistance with their Social Security benefits,” said
Ross. “This has been especially difficult for the elderly and the disabled,
many of whom have difficulty making the two-hour journey to Hot Springs.
Finally, Mena residents will get the help they deserve concerning their
Social Security matters locally. Once a month, the Social Security
Administration will send a representative to Mena to address any concerns
residents may have in person.”
“I would also like to thank Polk County Judge Garmon, who brought this
issue to my attention. There is no doubt that without Judge Garmon’s partnership
and tireless efforts, this issue never would have been resolved. I commend
him for his leadership toward bringing back Social Security services to
Polk County residents.”
For months, Congressman Ross and his staff have worked extensively
with local and federal officials to restore Social Security services to
Polk County. More details on the location and the exact dates and times
a representative will be present in Mena are forthcoming.
