Ross to Host Medicare Reimbursement Forums
As Congress begins to tackle Medicare Reform

(Prescott, AR) Fourth District Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.) today announced that he will convene three Medicare reimbursement forums in Texarkana, Hot Springs, and Pine Bluff this Friday, February 21.

“With the release of President Bush’s fiscal year 2004 budget earlier this month, Medicare reform and a prescription drug benefit were made must-do items this Congress,” Ross said.  “This once again turns the spotlight on these very important issues and allows us the opportunity to truly fix our healthcare system.”

“As Congress begins its session and attempts to tackle Medicare reform and expanding prescription drug coverage, I want to hear from you about how Medicare reimbursement policies are affecting your practice and ability to serve some of the most vulnerable in our society.  I also want to give you the opportunity to hear from a representative from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services about the Administration’s plans.”

During each forum, Keith Mueller, Director of the Rural Policy Research Institute (RUPRI) Center for Rural Health Policy Analysis, and Bruce Coates, Contracting Manager of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Region IV Office, will join Ross in presenting information on Medicare reimbursement and efforts to improve existing practices.

The forums will be held at the following times and locations this Friday, January 21:

9:00 am – Wadley Regional Medical Center

1000 Pine Street, Texarkana, TX, (903) 798-8001

1:00 pm – National Park Medical Center

4:00 p.m. Jefferson Regional Medical Center

1600 W. 40th Avenue, Pine Bluff, (870) 541-7269

“I encourage you to please attend the forum nearest you and bring your questions and comments,” Ross added.  “If I am to help shape Medicare reform as your U.S. Representative, it is essential that I hear your concerns and your input on this important issue.”
