Rep. Pryce to be honored TODAY with
award for work on behalf of children
America’s Promise presents award to Pryce, scholarship
to local student
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington) will be
recognized for her advocacy and leadership on children’s issues by
America’s Promise – The Alliance for Youth at a gala event in
Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
America’s Promise (www.americaspromise.org)
was founded after the Presidents’ Summit for America’s Future in 1997
where Presidents Bush, Carter, Clinton and Ford challenged the country
to make children and youth a national priority. According to America’s
Promise, Pryce “is a longtime advocate of adoption rights who has worked
to raise awareness about adoption and support adoptive families. Her
work is helping serve the millions of children in need of permanent
homes and loving families, many of whom might otherwise be at risk.”
At the
event, Columbus resident Terron Banner, a 16-year-old student at
Africentric High School, will introduce Congresswoman Pryce, and will be
presented with a $1500 scholarship from the Bubel/Aiken Foundation,
founded by performer Clay Aiken in 2003 to help children with
disabilities gain full inclusion in every sector of life. Terron is one
of seven students selected nationally for his exemplary service to his
community and outstanding character.
