Rep. Pryce on House Floor TODAY to Manage Rule on Child Tax Credit

Legislation will keep hard-earned dollars in the pockets of American Families

WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington) will be on the House Floor today to manage the rule for and speak in support of legislation that will make permanent the $1,000 child tax credit currently available to American families.  The rule Pryce is set to manage will enable the House to consider the Child Credit Preservation and Expansion Act of 2004.

The families of nearly 1.9 million children in Ohio currently receive tax relief through the child tax credit.

In 2001, Congress passed legislation that expanded the child tax credit from $400 to $1,000 over ten years.  Two years later, Congress passed legislation to accelerate the credit to $1,000 in 2003 and 2004.  The legislation that the House will consider today will address the $1,000 child tax credit that is set to snap back if Congress does not act.  Failure to enact this legislation will result in a tax increase of over $600 on 30 million taxpayers with nearly 50 million children.
