Representative George Miller to Help Unveil
House Democrats' New Partnership For America's Future

U.S. Capitol Event To Outline Agenda To Help Middle Class Families

Tuesday, September 21, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC – On Wednesday, September 22 at 10:15 am EDT, Congressman George Miller (D-CA), chairman of the House Democratic Policy Committee, will join Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Members of Congress in unveiling the House Democrats' New Partnership for America's Future. The new Partnership will firmly underscore the Democratic agenda in Congress.

Members of the news media based in Washington are invited to cover this event. California-based reporters are invited to interview Congressman Miller at any time during the day Wednesday.

In addition, Congressman Miller will appear on C-Span's Washington Journal morning program, from 7:30 to 8:00 am EDT on Wednesday.

In 2003, Leader Pelosi appointed Miller chairman of the Democratic Policy Committee specifically to develop proposals to help build a strong middle class, consistent with Democratic values of fairness, opportunity, accountability and national security concerns. The new Partnership reflects the Democrats' goals of ensuring a dynamic health care system, top quality colleges and public schools, and robust job creation.

Miller has been instrumental in crafting numerous major Democratic initiatives over the past two years in his new role, including a Medicare prescription drug plan, the American Jobs Plan, (http://edworkforce.house.gov/democrats/releases/rel61604.html), the Democrats Economic Stimulus Plan, (http://edworkforce.house.gov/democrats/economicstimulus.html), and now the House Democrats' New Partnership for America's Future.

Working closely with Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA), Leader Pelosi, and the other members of the Caucus, the Partnership clearly reflects the core prinicples and ideas House Democrats are fighting for this year and will fight for in the next Congress.

Full details of the Partnership will be available on Wednesday morning on Miller's website: www.house.gov/georgemiller
