Etheridge to Speak at Methodist Commencement

WASHINGTON - On Saturday, U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) will speak at Methodist College's Spring Commencement. Etheridge will congratulate the college's 150 graduates and speak about the importance of lifelong education.

"I am honored to join Methodist College, its graduates and their families for this special day," Etheridge said. "As the first in my family to graduate from college, I know firsthand the pride and accomplishment in graduation. And as a parent who has seen three adult children graduate, I know full well that pride is fully shared by the graduates' families. Celebrating with young men and women on a day when the world opens up before them brings me great joy."

At the commencement, Etheridge will receive the Methodist College Medallion, the highest honor awarded by the college. He will be honored for his contributions to Methodist College and to the community.

Methodist College's Spring Commencement will take place at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 7th at the March F. Riddle Physical Activities Center. More than 1,200 family members and 160 faculty members are expected to attend the exercises.

Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC is a senior coeducational college of liberal arts and sciences currently serving more than 2,000 students from 48 states and 37 foreign countries. The college offers bachelor's degrees in 65 fields of study and a master's degree in physician assistant studies. This fall, the college will launch its newest graduate offering: the MBA at Pinehurst.
