Etheridge Named Lead Democrat on New Homeland Security Subcommittee

WASHINGTON - Today U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington), the only N.C. member on the House Homeland Security Committee, announced that he has been named the Ranking Minority Member of the committee's newly formed Subcommittee on Investigations. The subcommittee will conduct in-depth, long-term investigations related to homeland security efforts of the Federal government.

"I am pleased to be named the lead Democrat on the newly formed Investigations Subcommittee, and I look forward to using this new position to work on behalf of the people of North Carolina. This new subcommittee will help Congress to exercise its Constitutional oversight over the executive branch so that we can better protect Americans from terrorist attacks, natural disasters and other potential homeland security emergencies," said Etheridge.

Etheridge will maintain his position on the Emergency Preparedness, Science and Technology Subcommittee. Etheridge is also the Ranking Member of the House Agriculture Committee Subcommittee on General Farm Committees and Risk Management and serves on the Subcommittee on Credit, Conservation, Rural Development and Research.
