Etheridge Announces Birth of First Grandchild

RALEIGH - U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge and his wife Faye today joyfully announced the birth of their very first grandchild. William Otto is the new son of Etheridge's daughter Catherine Etheridge Otto and her husband Tim. William entered the world today at 9:05 a.m. in Raleigh, weighing seven pounds and seven ounces and measuring 21 inches.

"Faye and I are proud as can be of our very first grandchild - William Otto - and his parents," Etheridge said. "Looking into the face of a newborn baby reaffirms your hope for mankind, your faith in God and your commitment to family. I want my grandson to grow up in a world of peace and prosperity, where he can achieve his dreams through hard work. I want William and all his future classmates to have quality schools, safe neighborhoods and access to the best health care. And I hope that the federal government can return to the values of balanced budgets and economic opportunity so that my grandson's generation can reach for the American Dream. Those are North Carolina values; the values that I will teach my grandson each and every day."

Etheridge looks forward to spending time with his family's newest addition and to introducing him to his friends in the Second Congressional District.
