Etheridge Hosts Online Town Hall on the State of Family Farmers

RALEIGH -- U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington), a member of the House Agriculture Committee and a part-time farmer, will host an online town hall forum focusing on the state of family farmers on Wednesday, August 25h from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Etheridge will be fielding questions from around the country about agriculture and rural America. For more information or to participate in the forum, visit http://housedemocrats.gov/.

"In today's tough economy, our farm families and rural communities are especially hard hit," Etheridge said. "In Congress, I am working to boost investment in our rural infrastructure and support our hard-working farmers. I am excited about this opportunity to talk to people in North Carolina and around the country about the work Democrats are doing for rural America."

Etheridge's online town hall is part of the "Voice of the Heartland Tour" featuring Democratic Members of Congress. This August, Democratic Members of Congress are touring the country to speak with families across America who are struggling with issues from finding a good paying job to the hard obstacles facing family farmers to retirement security. Representatives are traveling to as many regions as possible from Tennessee and Kentucky to Utah and Minnesota. Online town halls, like the one Etheridge is hosting, supplement these events and make these representatives accessible to people around the country.
