Etheridge, Ballance, Miller Announce Federal Funding for Vance County

WASHINGTON - U.S. Reps. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington), Frank Ballance (D-Warrenton) and Brad Miller (D-Raleigh) today announced that Vance County is receiving an investment of $250,000 from the Economic Development Administration. The funding will be used for the next phase of the Kerr-Tar Hub, a five-county collaboration to create a technology center that will serve as a magnet for business investment.

"This funding is great news for all the counties participating in the Kerr-Tar Hub," Etheridge said. "This is an innovative plan to bring quality jobs for the 21st century to the region. Partnerships between federal, state and local governments and private and public investment are key to preparing our communities for the future. In these tough economic times, projects like this are critical to growing our economy and creating new jobs."

The Kerr-Tar Hub is a collaboration of Franklin, Granville, Person, Vance, and Warren counties to generate economic growth and investment to the rural region. When fully completed, it is anticipated that the new park will provide 1,000 jobs. For more information on the Kerr-Tar Hub, please visit http://www.kerrtarhub.org/.
