Etheridge Sponsors Grant Workshop

RALEIGH - U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) will sponsor a "Community and Faith-Based Initiatives Grants Workshop" for community groups, non-profits and faith-based organizations in the Second Congressional District. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25th at the Benson Civic Center, which is located at 1204 North Johnson Street in Benson. Community/Faith-Based Specialist Cecil Brown of the Department of Housing and Urban Development will lead the workshop. It is open to any community, non-profit or faith-based organization interested in learning about grant opportunities from the federal government.

"This workshop is an opportunity for those groups who work so hard on behalf of our communities to learn about ways the federal government can make their work a little easier," Etheridge said. "Community groups will be able to learn about funding opportunities available through the federal government and how to submit a successful grant application. This free workshop will help cut through government red tape and get federal dollars in the hands of those helping our communities."

Workshop topics will include legal dos and don'ts; how to access government funds; HUD programs available to non-profits; and the ten commandments of grant writing. Participants will also receive a packet of information that outlines how to submit a successful application. There is no charge to attend and lunch is provided. However, participants must register as soon as possible.

To register, call Congressman Etheridge's Raleigh district office toll-free at 1-888-262-6202.
