Etheridge Shares 'Washington Perspective' with North Carolina Business Leaders

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) welcomed members of the business community in the Second Congressional District to Washington this week for his annual two-day seminar called "The Washington Perspective." This year, over 200 business leaders from across the state joined Etheridge and other members of the North Carolina delegation for the annual event. Participants attended meetings and receptions with Etheridge and other legislators and received briefings on federal issues.

"In these tough economic times, North Carolina's business leaders need to be in the loop on important policy matters that impact their businesses and our communities," Etheridge said. "This seminar gives these leaders insight into the inner-workings of Washington and gives them access to an array of information and resources. I am proud to host my constituents for this special opportunity, and I am always grateful for the opportunity to hear their ideas and unique perspectives. I am pleased that so many business leaders from the Second District could take time out of their busy schedules to be part of this important event."

Participants heard from Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer of Maryland, Majority Whip Roy Blunt of Missouri, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Mel Martinez, ABC News' Chief White House Correspondent Terry Moran, Former Assistant Secretary of Defense Victoria Clarke and 2004 Presidential Candidate and Congressman Dennis Kucinich of Ohio. The group also received a special briefing and Q&A session with members of the North Carolina delegation.
