WASHINGTON—A bipartisan coalition of 219 Members of Congress has signed a letter to the House Appropriations Committee in support of adequate funding for Amtrak.

The letter asks the appropriators to fund the passenger rail service at $1.812 billion in Fiscal Year 2004.  The amount is the same level of funding requested by Amtrak’s President and CEO, David Gunn.
