Washington, D.C. - Congressman Todd Akin (R-Mo) issued the following statement highlighting the continued economic expansion, lowering unemployment rate, and new job growth in the March employment report announced this morning by the Department of Labor (DOL):
"Under pro-job, pro-family and pro-economic growth policies championed by Congressional Republicans and the Administration the economy continues to grow.
"The DOL report released this morning announced 211,000 jobs were created in March bringing the total number of jobs created since May 2003 to more than five million.
"With such encouraging economic growth and an unemployment rate now at levels lower than the average of the last three decades, it is clear that the President's tax cuts are working and that they need to be made permanent."
