Akin Hails Continued Jobs Growth
Calls for making tax cuts permanent

Congressman Todd Akin, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Regulatory Reform and Oversight of the House Small Business Committee, released the following statement today after the Department of Labor announced 243,000 new jobs were created in February:

"The American economy is strong and continues to grow. Today's announcement that 243,000 new jobs were created in February is further proof that over the past five years Republicans have pursued the right tax policies. Cutting taxes and letting America's entrepreneurs and small business people keep more of what they earn has ignited the job creating engine of this economy.

"Since passage of the Bush tax cuts, more than 5 million new jobs have been created. Given these results, it is clear that the Congress must make permanent the tax relief."
