WASHINGTON, DC – Two staffers from the office of Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO), have taken unpaid leave to drive down to Louisiana to assist in Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts. Franz Kohler and Kristina Twitty have taken leave for the week of November 7 to join the Mission to North America (MNA) a mission organization of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) to assist with relief efforts.
“Kristina and I just happen to work together and attend the same church,” said Franz Kohler. “When our pastor challenged our congregation at the Kirk of the Hills to put Christ’s love into action in response to Katrina, we resolved to find a way to get involved.”
“Volunteering a helping hand to assist those in need has long been a great tradition in America and I am glad to see that spiritual tradition being exercised by Franz and Kristina,” said Akin.
