House Armed Services Hearings Address 9/11 Recommendations
Will receive testimony from Commission's Chairman and Vice Chairman

Washington, D.C. - As a member of the House Armed Services Committee (HASC), Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO) will attend hearings this week regarding the recommendations of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks on the United States (also known as the 9/11 commission). The hearings will focus on the role of the Department of Defense in national intelligence.

Today, August 10 from 10-12:00 pm Eastern, the House Armed Services Committee will hear testimony from both Thomas Kean, Chairman of the 9/11 Commission and Lee Hamilton, Vice Chairman of the 9/11 Commission.

"The commission has worked hard to produce a nonpartisan report that avoids as much as possible partisan conflict and focuses solely on improving homeland security," said Akin. "The administration has also shown great commitment and initiative when it comes to making our nation safer and more able to defend against future terrorist attacks. I look forward to exploring how recommendations by the commission may help improve the efficiency or otherwise affect the work of various defense intelligence agencies."

For further information on this week's hearings, or to schedule an interview with Congressman Akin contact Steve Taylor at (314) 590-0029.
