Akin Recognized by CCAGW as a Top Fighter of Government Waste
Award follows third consecutive recognition by National Taxpayer Union as "National Taxpayers Friend"
Washington D.C.- The Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW), a prominent grass roots organization promoting fiscal responsibility, has issued its 2003 Congressional ratings and has declared Congressman Akin (R-MO) a top fighter of Government Waste. CCAGW has announced that Congressman Akin has tied with eight other Congressmen for having the highest taxpayer friendly score of 95 percent. Congressman Akin was the only Missouri legislator to be honored by CCAGW this year.
According to the CCAGW, the organization tracks votes for legislation "that grows government and has long-lasting negative repercussions on taxpayer's wallets."
"Being recognized as having a top score for fighting government waste is great news and reflects my commitment to being a conservative voice for my constituents," stated Akin. "I am proud of my record of standing for fiscal responsibility and I am encouraged that citizen organizations continue to monitor wasteful government spending."
Congressman Akin has a 94% lifetime rating by CCAGW and recently received his third consecutive "National Taxpayers Friend" award from the National Tax Payers Union (NTU) for being a "highest performer" when it comes to voting for a lesser burden on U.S. taxpayers.
