Akin: Bush Economic Policy Leading
To Strong Job Growth
Manufacturing Sector Enjoys Rise in Activity
Washington D.C.- In response to today's economic news showing strong job growth and a buoyant manufacturing sector, Congressman Todd Akin (R-MO) said the news was evidence that the tax cut policies of President Bush that he supported was continuing to reverse a devastating recession started during the Clinton Administration.
"Today's news that 308,000 new jobs were created last month is further evidence that President Bush's tax cut policies are working," said Akin. "This report represents the greatest addition to payroll in four years. In addition, another report out today indicates the greatest growth in manufacturing jobs in 16 years and a corresponding increase in manufacturing activity.
"It is clear that our economy's recovery is vibrant. The aggressive tax cut policies advocated by the President and which I have supported in Congress have been essential to today's good news. Lower taxes and less regulation means jobs, growth and a better standard of living for everyone. This is welcome news that should foster greater confidence in the long-term strength of our economy and employment opportunities for people in Missouri and throughout the country," Akin concluded.
