Congressman Akin Speaks at Veteran's Memorial Dedication

WHAT: Veteran's Day ceremony to dedicate an expansion of the Veteran's Memorial in front of St. Peters city hall. Congressman Akin (R-Mo), along with other noted speakers will participate.

WHO: Congressman Todd Akin; Chaplain Jonnie Gipson, V.F.W. Post 1038; Terry Hawkins, St. Peters Alderman; Master Gunnery Sergeant Lennie Miller, United States Marine Corps (retired); United States Army; Admiral Jack Zerr, United States Navy (retired); Major Douglas Cochran, United States Marine Corps; Captain Bob Panky, United States Air Force (retired); Captain Brian Ford, United States Coast Guard; Captain Brian Ford, United States Coast Guard; Bell Hesse, President, Merchant Marine Association; and organizer Bill Rupp.

WHERE: St. Peters City Centre, off of Mexico Road.

WHEN: November 11, 2003 11:00 am

"It is always important to thank veterans for their dedication," said Akin, a member of the House Armed Service Committee who recently returned from leading a congressional delegation to Iraq. "Especially when our nation is at war, it is extremely important to let those who are serving and those who have served know that we are proud of them and the sacrifices they have made for the cause of freedom."
