St. Louis- Today, Boeing announced that the company’s office for Future Combat Systems will be headquartered in St. Louis, effective June, 2003. According to Boeing, “the combat-systems program seeks to create a more agile military by leveraging advanced communications and provide the U.S. Army with a more agile and revolutionary capability, allowing a rapidly deployable and lethal network-centric force capable of rapidly responding to the full spectrum of conflict anywhere in the world.”

“The program seeks to improve the flexibility and agility of the U.S. military in the field, anywhere they may be deployed,” said Congressman Akin (R-Mo), who serves on the House Armed Services. “The decision to move the headquarters to St. Louis is very encouraging and demonstrates Boeing’s commitment to our region and to quality and innovative work to improve the fighting capability of the United States military.”

“The selection reflects the high priority we hive this program,” said Jim Albaugh, president and CEO, Boeing Integrated Defense Systems. “We share the Army’s commitment to transformation, success, and working with the customer, are poised to deliver and effective, sustainable system that will meet future battlefield requirements.”
