TALENT & AKIN ANNOUNCE PRO-TROOP RALLY TO BE HELD IN TROY
Sen. Talent Continues ‘United We Stand’ Tour
(TROY) U.S. Sen. Jim Talent (R-Mo.) and U.S. Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.) will join Lincoln County residents for a rally in support of our men and women in uniform on Saturday, April 5, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at the VFW Post #8828, located at 444 Highway J in Troy.
Sen. Talent and Rep. Akin will join Missouri families, veterans and local officials to show support for the American troops who are prosecuting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
The Troy visit will be the seventh stop of Senator Talent’s ‘United We Stand’ tour, which he launched on March 22nd. Sen. Talent has addressed Missourians at pro-troops rallies in St. Louis, Sedalia, Jefferson City, Mexico, Hannibal and Kirksville over the last two weeks.
“The United We Stand tour has been a huge success,” said Talent, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “Missourians have come out in large numbers to support our troops as they work to end Saddam Hussein’s regime, free the Iraqi people and disarm Iraq of weapons of mass destruction. America’s armed forces are resolute. They will see this war though to its inevitable successful conclusion, and Missourians are standing with them.”
“The courage and skill with which the men and women of our military are conducting the liberation of Iraq is a source of real pride for all Americans,” said Congressman Akin, who serves on the House Armed Service Committee. “I am looking forward to honoring that courage with those who have shown real initiative and depth of patriotism by organizing and attending such a rally.”
