Statement on Senator Bond’s Appointment as Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Transportation, Infrastructure and Nuclear Safety

Today, Senator Bond is hosting a transportation forum to discuss transportation issues and his new role as Chairman of the Senate Subcommittee on Transportation, Infrastructure and Nuclear Safety. Congressman Akin has issued the following statement.

“Senator Bond’s appointment as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation is great news for the Senate and places one of Missouri’s most trusted and effective lawmakers in a very significant role in determining how federal highway funding will be spent.

“Highway funding is an issue that has long been of great importance to Senator Bond, and the committee is well served by his appointment. He is a skilled legislator and a tremendous advocate for Missouri.
