House Passes Homeland Security Bill
Washington, D.C.- Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 5710, the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The bill coordinates efforts to protect America’s homeland and combines 22 Federal Agencies. Congressman Akin issued the following statement:
“This is a much needed and overdue piece of legislation, a version of which the House passed in July.
“It is the fundamental purpose of the federal government to provide for the security of Americans. This bill helps to coordinate efforts to secure our homeland against terrorist attack and this historic restructuring of government will help us face new challenges as we continue in our war against terrorism.”
