Rep. Akin Statement Regarding Boeing’s Announcement of Corporate Reorganization

St. Louis, Mo.- Today, Boeing has announced a merging of its defense, space, intelligence, government and communication capabilities into one business unit. The restructuring will constitute an Integrated Defense Systems Division to be headquartered in St. Louis. Congressman Todd Akin, a member of both the House Armed Service and Science Committees, issued the following statement:

“Boeing’s announcement that it is locating the headquarters for its newly formed Integrated Defense Systems in St. Louis signifies the company’s continuing commitment not only to the future of defense aerospace but also to our region.

“The decision to headquarter the Integrated Defense Systems in St. Louis is a tremendous opportunity for our region to continue as a prominent contributor to the advancement of aerospace technology. From designing modern battlefield systems to supporting the International Space Station, St. Louis will play an exciting role.

“As a member of both the Armed Services and Science Committee, I applaud Boeings decision to make St. Louis the hub of their newly formed Integrated Defense Systems.”
