Statement by Rep. Akin on the 100th F/A-18E/F Super Hornet
St. Louis, Mo.- Today, Congressman Akin will attend a ceremony at Boeing-St. Louis to celebrate the 100th F/A-18E/F Super Hornet. Akin released the following statement regarding the event:
“In an age when major weapons programs are often years behind schedule and billions over budget, the Super Hornet development program stands out as an aviation program brought in on schedule and under budget. That achievement is a testimony to the Navy-Boeing team that designed and produces the Super Hornet.
“With its extended range, greater payload, enhanced survivability and greater operational flexibility, the Super Hornet represents the next generation of Navy fighter. When the USS Abraham Lincoln deploys later this summer, it will include the first Super Hornet squadron to take to sea in a real-world deployment.
“Today’s ceremony and the deployment of the USS Abraham Lincoln represent significant milestones for the Navy and for Boeing—St. Louis.”
